The house
A haven of peace by the water
Tucked away in the Anse de l'Olivier in Sigean, between the African Reserve and the long sandy beaches of the Mediterranean, the Fisherman's House is a haven of peace on the shore of the Bages-Sigean lagoon.
From the terrace you can watch flamingos and wetland birds, fish when the water level allows, and enjoy an aperitif as the sun goes down. A return to the essentials, with today's comforts and high-speed internet.
Canoes are waiting for you on site, bikes are available on request, and the nearby Port Mahon water-sports centre offers kitesurfing, sailing, kayaking and catamarans. Cathar castles, local oysters, Corbières wines and Sigean's markets round off your stay.
The house is ideal for two couples, and pets are welcome. Dine outdoors, or even sleep under the stars.

A house with its feet in the water
La Maison du pêcheur sits on the edge of the Bages-Sigean lagoon, in the anse de l'Olivier, in the heart of the Parc naturel régional de la Narbonnaise en Méditerranée. In front of you, there is nothing but water, reeds and sky. In the morning, flamingos feed in front of the terrace; in the evening, the sun sets over the lagoon.
It is an eco-lodging: water arrives by tank and is shared with care, vegetable peelings go to the vegetable garden compost, and yet the house is connected to fibre broadband. A true return to the essentials, without giving up comfort.

Designed for two couples or a small family (4 people at most), the house has two bedrooms and a warm living room, with a fireplace for winter evenings.

Outside, the real living room
The terrace at the water's edge is where everything happens: breakfast in the sun, an aperitif facing the sunset, dinner outdoors and, on summer nights, sleeping under the stars. The patio gives you shelter when the tramontane blows.

On the water
Two two-seater canoes and a paddleboard are available free of charge, so you can go and meet the birds of the lagoon. You can fish with a line from the terrace depending on the water level, and our partner fisherman can sell you fish caught that very morning.
Just next door, the Port-Mahon watersports centre offers sailing, kitesurfing, kayaking and catamaran, and a walking loop starts right from the house along the lagoon.

A personal welcome
We welcome you ourselves when you arrive, with cold drinks, often a little local wine, and mineral water. We live next door and are available throughout your stay to recommend a restaurant, a walk or an outing. We speak French, English, Spanish and Catalan.
Good to know
- Your pets are welcome.
- The terrace opens directly onto the water, with no railing: young children must be supervised at all times.
- The house water comes from a filtered tank treated with UV, but it is not drinkable: mineral water is waiting for you.
- Bed linen and towels: bring your own or ask for our per-bedroom package at least 48 hours before arrival.
- Arrival between 4 pm and 8 pm, departure before 11 am: we stay flexible whenever possible.

Inhabituel!
Un hébergement vraiment merveilleux, loin du tourisme de masse, dans un endroit absolument calme, avec beaucoup d'espace et d'excellentes installations. Les chambres sont confortables et propres. La cuisine est superbement équipée et la terrasse avec ses nombreux petits coins salons est un rêve. Partout où le regard se pose, on découvre de petits éléments décoratifs méditerranéens, soigneusement suspendus ou disposés dans la maison et sur la terrasse. Notre hôte, Denys, nous a réservé un accueil chaleureux et nous a apporté de la joie presque quotidiennement par de petites attentions et des petites douceurs. L'hébergement comprend un kayak qui peut être mis à l'eau et utilisé directement devant la terrasse. Nous avons vraiment passé un excellent séjour !
Il n'y a pas d'accès peu profond à la mer pour la baignade. Si vous voulez aller dans l'eau, qui se trouve juste en face de la terrasse, vous devez y accéder à l'aide d'une petite échelle. C'est un peu compliqué, mais faisable !

Ein absolut magischer Ort
Denys hat eine unfassbar schöne Location geschaffen. Von den unterschiedlichsten Sitz- und Liegeflächen auf der wunderschön bepflanzten Terrasse bis hin zur abendlichen Beleuchtung. Der Ort hat eine ganz besondere Magie und schenkt dir Energie. Das Haus hat alles, was man für einen Aufenthalt braucht. Die Sonnenuntergänge mit Blick auf einzelne Flamingos ist ein absolutes Highlight. Denys ist ein wunderbarer Gastgeber und immer erreichbar. Am letzten Abend brachte er uns 2 Flaschen seines eigenen Chardonnays ☺️ wir haben diese Auszeit sehr genossen und können diese Location absolut empfehlen. The quite and views were exceptional. Good walks for the dog. A place for a very restful stay. Excellent value for the price paid. Netflix on the TV was in multiple languages. Sailing, board sports all within a short walk or 2 minutes in a car.
You need to take moustiques repellent if you wish to sit outside at night. Being by the water it is to be expected.

What equipment is available?
The house is fully equipped. Small appliances (Nespresso or filter coffee maker, kettle, baby cot, fan…) and leisure gear (canoe, mountain bikes, fishing kit…) are prepared on request: pick them on your booking page under “Personalise your stay”. As everything is cleaned and disinfected between stays, we only set out what you need.
How do I book and pay?
Right here on this website: choose your dates in the calendar, fill in the form, then secure the deposit (50% of the stay) with a simple card hold through Swikly: nothing is charged to your card. Your booking is confirmed straight away by email. The stay is paid on arrival at the latest. Booking direct means no platform fees.
Is a security deposit required?
Yes, €400 as a card pre-authorisation: nothing is charged unless there is damage or the house rules are not respected (see the rental terms).
What if I need to cancel?
More than 14 days before arrival, cancellation is free: the card hold is simply released and nothing is charged. Less than 14 days before, or in case of no-show, the deposit amount may be charged. A change of dates can be requested up to 14 days before arrival, subject to availability.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is usually from 4 pm and check-out by 11 am. We are flexible whenever possible.
Is there parking?
Yes, a private gated car park with an automatic gate, with room for two vehicles with trailers.
How far are the beaches?
The first sandy beaches of Port-la-Nouvelle are about ten minutes away, and there are many more along the coast.
Is the house suitable for families with children?
Yes, but children must be supervised at all times: the terrace is right at the water's edge, with no railing.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, your pets are welcome. A dog bed (dogs up to 30 kg) can be prepared on request.
Can we order local produce?
Yes: Leucate oysters, Limoux wines, saffron and fleur de sel we harvest ourselves, garden baskets… Order them in advance on your booking page and they will be waiting for you at the house.
Is the tourist tax included?
No, the Sigean tourist tax is added to the price and paid on site.
How can we share our holiday photos?
With the “Share my photos” button (or the QR code in the house): a few photos, a few words or a voice message, published in the guests' gallery after review.
